Houston White Cane Safety Day promotes awareness and understanding of persons with vision loss and blindness who travel with the white cane, while celebrating their employment accomplishments and independence! This National Disability Employment Awareness Month event is coordinated by Vocational Rehabilitation Services and Workforce Solutions with 14 businesses and organizations from the Gulf Coast Area. Some features of this event include: Awareness March with Spirit of Houston Cougar Band, Program of speakers and performers highlighting employment and independence successes, mayoral proclamation from the City of Houston, door prizes from area businesses, exhibitors from local businesses and resources, livestream on Houston WCSD YouTube channel, and lunch provided by event partner Jersey Mike’s.
