“Congratulations to Lone Star College on their partnership with manufacturing consortium, Goodman and Quietflex, which will provide specialized skills training needed to support these high-demand industries in the Gulf Coast area,” said TWC Chair and Commissioner Representing Employers Ruth R. Hughs. “This joint investment benefits employers, citizens, and communities, and contributes to keeping Texas a global economic leader and the best state in the country for business.”

This grant will be used to provide custom training to 530 new and incumbent workers in the manufacturing industry. Trainees will include computer programmers, forklift operators and quality engineers. Upon completion of training, the workers will receive an average hourly wage of $22.08.

Since its inception in 1996, the Skills Development Fund grants have created or upgraded more than 356,744 jobs throughout Texas.
