Overview

TWC administers unemployment benefits to workers who become unemployed through no fault of their own and are actively seeking work. Prevention, detection and elimination of fraud, waste and abuse of the unemployment insurance program are top priorities, ensuring that funds are available exclusively to those who meet the eligibility requirements. We regularly cross match benefit claims with employer wage reports and other databases to detect possible fraud. When fraud is detected, we work with local and federal agencies and district attorney offices to prosecute those who try to cheat the system.
